چکیده

Gassy and degassed aqueous solutions of DNA were treated ultrasonically while monitoring the field for discrate cavitation events. At irradiation intensities greater than about 500 W/cm 2, transient cavitation is shown to be responsible forthe observed reduction i molecular weight. At intensifies of200 to 288 W/cm 2, degradation of DNA was observed which did not depend upon transient cavitation.

Numerical Study for Optimizing Parameters of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound-Induced Thermal Field during Liver Tumor Ablation: HIFU Simulator

Introduction High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is considered a noninvasive and effective technique for tumor ablation. Frequency and acoustic power are the most effective parameters for temperature distribution and the extent of tissue damage. The aim of this study was to optimize the operating transducer parameters such as frequency and input power in order to acquire suitable temperatu...

Development of calibration techniques for ultrasonic hydrophone probes in the frequency range from 1 to 100 MHz.

The primary objective of this work was to develop and optimize the calibration techniques for ultrasonic hydrophone probes used in acoustic field measurements up to 100 MHz. A dependable, 100 MHz calibration method was necessary to examine the behavior of a sub-millimeter spatial resolution fiber optic (FO) sensor and assess the need for such a sensor as an alternative tool for high frequency c...

Infrared mapping of ultrasound fields generated by medical transducers: feasibility of determining absolute intensity levels.

Considerable progress has been achieved in the use of infrared (IR) techniques for qualitative mapping of acoustic fields of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) transducers. The authors have previously developed and demonstrated a method based on IR camera measurement of the temperature rise induced in an absorber less than 2 mm thick by ultrasonic bursts of less than 1 s duration. The goa...

The effect of low intensity dual frequency ultrasonic waves on the viability of the B16-F10 melanoma cell

In this study, the effect of single and dual-frequency sonication on cell death of B16-F10 melanoma cells is investigated at constant temperature. Here, 20 groups were studied. The test groups consisted of: control and sham, 40 kHz (intensity: 0.24 W/cm2), 1 MHZ (intensity: 0.5 W/cm2) and the dual frequency groups which each frequency group included seven subgroups of 30, 120, 60, 150, 300, 600...

A Fabry-Perot fiber-optic ultrasonic hydrophone for the simultaneous measurement of temperature and acoustic pressure.

A dual sensing fiber-optic hydrophone that can make simultaneous measurements of acoustic pressure and temperature at the same location has been developed for characterizing ultrasound fields and ultrasound-induced heating. The transduction mechanism is based on the detection of acoustically- and thermally-induced thickness changes in a polymer film Fabry-Perot interferometer deposited at the t...
